The Turtle Lodge hosts Roundtable Discussions,
which serve as part of the sharing of project outcomes of our programs,
as well as discussion forums for planning and developing future programs
and partnerships.
We are currently accepting registration for
the following Roundtable Discussions:

A Traditional Wellness Approach to Healing: Collaboration with Other
Nations
This forum will share the traditional First Nations understanding
of wellness as practiced at The Turtle Lodge, with a focus on finding
common ground and working together with other nations. This will lay
the framework for future relationships and networking with other communities,
as well as setting the stage for the replication of culturally distinct
Turtle Lodge programs in other communities.

A Traditional Wellness Approach to Healing: Collaboration with
Western and Other Complementary Approaches to
Medicine
This forum will share the traditional First Nations understanding
of wellness as practiced at The Turtle Lodge, showcasing program experiences
working as a team of Traditional Healers/Teachers and western health
professionals. This Roundtable Discussion will focus on issues of
collaboration between traditional healers and western health practitioners
and health organizations, as well as other practitioners of complementary
medicine. Members of health, allied health and complementary medicine
professions, as well as governmental representatives who have First
Nations health care mandates, will be included in the discussions.

A Traditional Wellness Approach to Educating Youth: Collaboration
with Community Educational Approaches
This forum will share the traditional First Nations approach to helping
youth learn about themselves as practiced at The Turtle Lodge, showcasing
program experiences working as a team of Traditional Healers/Teachers
and western-trained educators, using a combination of resources. Members
of the teaching professions and educational organizations will be
included, as well as public health educational services. The focus
will be on broadening the scope of the traditional approach by setting
the stage for collaboration and partnerships with a variety of educational
and community living organizations.

Traditional Wellness Approach to Self-Sufficiency: How Do We Achieve
Self-Determination
This Roundtable will offer the forum for individuals and communities
to share their understanding of self-sufficiency. It will provide
the opportunity for participants to suggest ways and offer their own
contributions to creating a self-sufficient Turtle Lodge concept based
onuniversal spiritual values and traditional concepts of land-based
survival, including barter and trade. The Roundtable will include
worldwide representation from programs which have experience with
creating self-sufficient environments, which are community-empowering
and respectful of the Seven Teachings of Inspiration and Natural Teachings
as practiced at The Turtle Lodge.
