First Nations people have an oral tradition. Accordingly, much of their teachings and wisdom is handed down orally from Elders of one generation to the next generation. One of the rare publications by Dave Courchene Jr. (Nii Gaani Aki Inini) includes: "Voice of the Eagle - The Final Warning Message of the Indigenous People of Turtle Island" The primary message of this publication was delivered by Nii Gaani Aki, at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992, where world leaders gathered out of imminent concerns over environmental destruction around the globe. This publication was commissioned and endorsed by the International Indigenous Commission based in Geneva, Switzerland. This publication (out of print) was co-authored by Alvin Manitopyes & Dave Courchene Jr. Further, with a commitment and priority to directly teaching and healing, Nii Gaani Aki, continues to write. Much of these writings are unpublished, and consolidation of these writings is anticipated in book form in the future.
