LODGE GRAND OPENING CEREMONIES Saturday, May 24, 2003 2:00 pm (Please Arrive Between 1 to 1:30 pm For Lighting Of The Sacred Fire) If Possible Please Bring A Dish Of Your Favorite Food For The Potluck Feast You are invited to come celebrate with us at the Turtle Lodge Grand Opening Ceremonies. The Grand Opening will include traditional Anishnabe ceremonies as well as the sounding of the Sacred Drums of the Four Directions (Red, Yellow, Black and White). We would consider it an honour if you and your families would join us on this very special day. There will be a Thanksgiving Potluck Feast, and we are asking that you bring a dish of your favourite foods. |

The Grand Opening Ceremonies will be very significant. They represent the opening of a "Spiritual Doorway". Through this Doorway we believe that the light and love of the Creator will pour into the Turtle Lodge and move throughout the world. The voices of all peoples will be carried by the sounding of the Sacred Drums. When the Drums are sounded we will also remember our sacred connection to the land, our Mother, the Earth. We are asking guests to arrive between 1:00 and 1:30 pm. We will be lighting the Sacred Fire. The Ceremonies will begin at 2:00 pm sharp. At the Grand Opening we will give thanks to the
Great Spirit for this gift of a lodge for all peoples of the world. We will commemorate the launching of our Youth Programs. Various spiritual leaders and government dignitaries will offer their words of congratulation and blessing. At 6:00 pm we will share in a Thanksgiving
Potluck Feast. Directions to The Turtle Lodge: From Winnipeg, take Hwy 59 north to Hwy 11. Turn right on Hwy 11, follow it for 10 miles. Turn right into the long driveway just before the new elementary school in Sagkeeng. The Turtle Lodge is located at the far end of the driveway, just past the creek.
