There are plans
to build a bunkhouse to lodge 40 guest/ program participants at
any given time, on land near the Turtle Lodge. It is anticipated
that the Bunkhouse will be built and operational about the Spring
of 2004.

During most major Events/ Programs/ Ceremonies,
it may be possible to camp at The Turtle Lodge site, particularly
during the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons. During these Events/
Programs/ Ceremonies, you may be encouraged to pitch your own
tent on-site.

The Turtle Lodge is situated in Sagkeeng
First Nations(also known as Fort Alexander), Manitoba, Canada.
The City of Winnipeg is the closest major centre to Sagkeeng.
Sagkeeng is located on the Southern tip
of Lake Winnipeg, approximately 150-km (95 miles) northeast of
Winnipeg. Sagkeeng is situated a short distance from the town
of Pine Falls, a well-known recreational area, with spectacular
scenery and many excellent natural recreational opportunities.
From Winnipeg, one can travel by
car or bus to Sagkeeng.

to Turtle Lodge: |
>> From Winnipeg,
take Hwy 59 north to Hwy 11.
>> Turn right on Hwy 11, follow it for 10 miles.
>> Turn right into the long driveway just before the
new elementary school in Sagkeeng.
>> The Turtle Lodge is located at the far end of the
driveway, just past the creek. |
There is bus service from Winnipeg to the Pine Falls bus terminal.
The bus service is constrained, and the journey can take about
3 to 4 hours. If it is possible, please try to see if you can
share a ride with someone who has access to a car.
